Eight undergraduate students from Durham College, Ontario Canada, arrived for a two-week educational and cultural immersion course, focussed on Enterprise. They worked in collaboration with seventeen TU Dublin students on our Enterprise Garage, the student business accelerator programme operated by The LINC.

As part of this inaugural International Summer School, our Canadian visitors undertook the accredited Innovation Pathway: Entrepreneurship & Business Start-up module. This was taught by TU Dublin academic staff and industry experts, and delivered through a combination of seminars, workshops and action-based learning activities. The interaction with Durham College and TU Dublin students during the workshop sessions led to an intensive and energising learning experience for all.

Our students undertook an exciting, innovation-based field trip to The Dock, Accenture's flagship Research, Development and Global Innovation Centre in Dublin. Students also had an opportunity to explore the Dublin start-up ecosystem at NDRC, an accelerator and investor programme, meeting founders of technology-based start-ups.

The TU Dublin International Summer School also provided a wonderful programme of social and cultural events. Visiting participants were immersed in the rich culture and heritage that Ireland has to offer. This included a tour of Dublin City, an Irish Cultural Show & Dinner at Johnnie Fox's, a visit to Guinness Storehouse, a visit to the Cliffs of Moher and The Wild Atlantic Way, a tour of the Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and The Dark Hedges Experience, made famous by Game of Thrones.

Like all good things, the Summer School came to an end with final pitch presentations by the students to expert panels, followed by the Farewell Event - Programme Certification and Pizza party in the new Connect Building on Blanchardstown Campus. Dr Larry McNutt, Registrar, presented certificates of Completion, and Dr Diarmuid O'Callaghan, Principal congratulated the students.

A massive thank you to all involved who helped make our first International Summer School a fabulous success.

What our students say...

Monika Karaliunaite

"Basically the course covers everything to do with digital and online media. I had it as a hobby in sixth year but when I came here I learned so much more."
