ITB and its Young Women in Technology Project has been nominated as a finalist in the 2016 Fingal Business Excellence & CSR Awards for the Best Public Service Excellence Award.

ITB's Access Office with the support of the School of Informatics & Engineering co-ordinates the Young Women in Technology (YWIT) Project. This project is targeted at female second level students and aims to create an awareness of the options available to them in third level education and in particular highlights those disciplines that are typically male dominated.
Every year female second level students from local schools attend specialised Computing and Creative Digital Media clinics in ITB which gives them an overview of the various technology programmes available. These clinics are followed by a learning styles and careers workshop and industry visits to local companies viz. IBM, PayPal , eBay. The YWIT project is among several projects ITB runs to encourage those students who traditionally might have found it difficult to access third level education.

Fingal Dublin Chamber organises the Awards each year to create awareness of and highlight business excellence across all business sectors, private, public and charity. It celebrates and recognises the extraordinary talent, drive, innovation and success of the business community in the Fingal Region.

The winners will be announced at the prestigious black-tie Gala Awards Presentation Evening sponsored by Fingal County Council and hosted by RTE's Marty Whelan on Friday, 11th November 2016 in the Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport Hotel in Santry.

We wish to acknowledge the valuable contribution of all our partners in the YWIT Project. Thanks to PayPal, Intel, Ericsson, eBay, IBM, Openet.

What our students say...

Monika Karaliunaite

"Basically the course covers everything to do with digital and online media. I had it as a hobby in sixth year but when I came here I learned so much more."
