ITB hosted its annual graduation ceremony with over 940 full and part-time students receiving awards in various disciplines. This years' event is the largest graduation ceremonies EVER held by the institute. |
Expecting a full house today as in addition to ITB's proud graduates, the college's multipurpose hall welcomed families, friends and staff to join in the celebration of the students' achievements. The ceremony was followed by a reception on campus for graduates and their family and friends. Celebrations will continue into the evening as graduates will attend the Annual Graduation Ball to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Blanchardstown. |
Congratulating the graduates and their families, Dr. Mary Meaney, ITB President also referred to ITB's alliance with DIT and IT Tallaght and the application for designation to create a Technological University for Dublin, "I wish to offer my congratulations to all our graduates today. ITB is also planning, an alliance with DIT and IT Tallaght, to apply for designation as Ireland's first Technological University. The concept of a Technological University is new to Ireland but common for example in Scandinavia, Germany, Australia and Canada. It is a description that fits well with the kind of institution we aim to be: innovative and entrepreneurial; closely connected with industry and community; and offering educational opportunities at every level - for school leavers; for job seekers; and for those returning to study so as to enhance or change careers. By joining with our sister institutions in Dublin, we believe we can build on what we now do separately to become an important element in the economic development of the Dublin Region and a part of Ireland's economic recovery." |
Awards were conferred for various programmes ranging from a Higher Certificate (Level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications) up to Masters levels (Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications) in the two academic schools within ITB. The wide range of awards, reflect the diversity of higher education opportunities available at the Institute. |
