Thursday 15th November saw six of Irelands most promising and exciting start -ups enter a real life Dragon’s Den Competition. The six finalists pitched their diverse business ideas and competed for a prize worth over €25,000. After careful consideration and much debate between the judging panel, it was decided that there would not only be a winner but also a runner up, such was the quality of business ideas. The winner and runner up were announced at the Prize-Giving Ceremony later that day.

The LINC would like to congratulate the winner of JumpStart 2012 – EZY Technology Innovations, founded by the brother and sister partnership of Deirdre Cogan and Thomas Carpenter. Deirdre, who is a participant on the New Frontiers Programme, is based in the LINC at the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown.

Commenced in 2010, EZY Technology Innovations is a company set up to research, develop and bring new products to the agricultural machinery market place. The machines are designed around identifying a current problem in a niche area of agriculture and designing a crop optimising machine to minimise the problems currently experienced. The EZY Crop is a 12 tonne non tipping trailer. Its patented discharge system gently empties crops from the trailer to minimise damage. This maximises return compare with the traditional method of tipping a trailer 40ft in the air and allowing the crop to tumble out and get damaged.
