Sport Development Office

The role of the Sports Development Team is to facilitate and accommodate students who wish to partake in sport and physical activity while they complete their chosen studies.

Our Sports Development Officer, Laura Corry, along with our Sports Interns, work with students to create a healthy sporting environment for all.

Along with providing excellent facilities, there are also active club programmes catered to suit every level.

Sports Facilities


Certified FIFA 1 Star All-Weather Soccer Pitch

This pitch was opened in June 2012 and is fully certified by FIFA to play matches. The dimensions are 100m x 64m with full soccer pitch markings only. The pitch is available for all TU Dublin Blanchardstown students during the hours of 10am-6pm and is hired out to external groups from 6:30-9:30pm Monday to Friday and from 10am-4pm on weekends.

  • Half pitch hire per hour (training) - €60
  • Full pitch hire per hour (training) - €110
  • Full pitch hire for matches - €150

Grass Sand-based GAA/Soccer Pitch

This pitch was opened in October 2013 to inter-county standard specification. The total playing area is 140m x 110m and can be lined to suit the sport. This pitch is available for rent at certain times of the year weather permitting.

Sports Hall

The sports hall can be booked by students and staff between 8am and 6pm each day, free of charge. The Sports hall is 32m x 22m and is lined for Futsal, Basketball, Badminton, Olympic handball and Volleyball.

Bookings by external groups from 6pm-10pm Monday – Friday and Saturday from 10am-4pm are €50 per hour.

Sports Pavilion

Our state of the art Pavilion is located adjacent to the Sports Pitches and comprises of a fully equipped Fitness Suite (190m²), HP Gym/teaching space (150m²), spin studio, an athletic therapy room, performance analysis suite, changing facilities and a number of lecture theatres.

Joining the Gym

Blanchardstown campus students and staff can join our Gym by downloading the Glofox App and registering their student/staff card at Sports Office in the Spraoi Building. 

Membership is free for all Blanchardstown campus students and staff. Gym slots are by appointment only, all health and safety protocols must be strictly followed and adhered too. Further details on request from Spraoi reception.

As part of the overall Sports Service we provide a number of free and subsidised fitness classes. All classes will be by advanced booking only and health and safety protocols must be strictly adhered to. These classes may change on a semester basis so keep an eye out and join us on our social media platforms:



Sports Scholarships


Elite and High Performance Sports Scholarships 2020/2021


TU Dublin rewards students who have outstanding sporting ability.
We offer Sports Scholarships to all full-time students to assist them in reaching their full potential, both academically and in their chosen sport. Students selected for the scholarship can benefit from an excellent financial package and support services.

Applicants should have:

  • Excellent potential
  • Outstanding ability in their particular sport
  • Be performing at a high level in their chosen sport
  • Have a desire to represent the University in their sport
  • Have a strong desire to pursue their academic course

Scholarships may be awarded in a wide range of sports. Applicants will be short-listed and may be interviewed as part of the selection process.

Scholarships are for a period of one academic year only. Applications will be sought on an annual basis.

Leinster Bursaries

In association with the Leinster GAA Council there are a limited number of bursaries awarded to outstanding GAA players from Leinster who are registered students of TU Dublin. This Bursary is offered to students in November of each academic year and bursary forms are available from the Leinster GAA website.
