The Institute of Technology Blanchardstown (ITB) is delighted to announce that two of its postgraduate courses have been shortlisted for a Gradireland Postgraduate Course of the Year Award. This year's Awards ceremony will take place on Friday 23th November 2018 in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry.

The courses shortlisted are a Master of Science in Applied Data Science and Analytics which has been nominated in the Computer Science & Technology category and a Master of Engineering in Internet of Things Technologies, which has been nominated in the Best New Course category.

The Master of Engineering in Internet of Things Technologies was first launched in September 2016 and has continued to grow its popularity and industrial partnerships. Through its flexible and blended delivery, the programme is well placed to meet the emerging and growing need for Engineers and Technologists to upskill in Internet of Things related technologies and connected systems engineering design techniques. The programme team are excited to once again have the innovative nature of the programme recognised by the Higher Education Awards.

At its inception in 2010, ITB's MSc in Applied Data Science and Analytics was the first online Masters in Data Science in Europe. It remains unique in two aspects: online lectures are delivered live every week, so recordings are actual classes as they happen each year including student contributions; and there is no requirement to attend campus during the course. The MSc in Applied Data Science and Analytics is open to any student with a numerate background and experience working with data. The course can be completed without programming skills, facilitating students from a variety of disciplines. According to course coordinator Dr. Geraldine Gray, most students are from a computing or engineering background, but students with degrees in pharmacy, medicine, chemistry, physics and psychology have also enrolled on the course.

What our students say...

Monika Karaliunaite

"Basically the course covers everything to do with digital and online media. I had it as a hobby in sixth year but when I came here I learned so much more."
