ITB in collaboration with Fingal County Council was awarded a Silver Gilt medal in the medium garden category at Bloom 2016 .

Congratulations to all the staff & students in our Horticulture Department and our friends in Fingal County Council who put many hours of work into the planting and building of this amazing garden.

ITB in collaboration with Fingal County Council are exhibiting a re-constructed medieval garden from Bremore Castle in Balbriggan at this weekend's Bloom Festival in the Phoenix Park.
The project is a collaboration project initiated by Fingal County Council in conjunction with the students and lecturers here at ITB's Horticulture Department.

ITB horticulture lecturer and seven times gold medal winner at Bloom, Jane McCorkell worked with our horticulture students in designing this medieval garden for Bloom 2016 while the show garden plants were cultivated in ITB's state of the art horticulture facility.

About Bremore Castle Medieval Garden :
This garden takes its inspiration from Bremore Castle, Balbriggan, a 15th/16th Century fortified house and manor associated with the Anglo-Norman Barnwall family. With the support of Fingal County Council and the Balbriggan and District Historical Society, and in conjunction with a Local Training Initiative, the castle has undergone comprehensive reconstruction since 1994. The garden will be a reflection of a medieval garden which would have been associated with Bremore Castle, and will highlight the range of skills which are the focus of the Local Training Initiative as well as the Horticultural students of ITB.

"Basically the course covers everything to do with digital and online media. I had it as a hobby in sixth year but when I came here I learned so much more."
